If you’re looking for a delightful mix of art, culture, food, and drinks, First Friday at Historic Downtown Manassas is the place to be. It’s just a ten-minute drive from The Elms at Signal Station and the event is free for everyone.
What is First Friday?
First Fridays occur in many cities around the world and are a way to showcase local artists and grow community bonds. Participating restaurants, pubs, and shops provide space for local artists to display and sell their work either inside or on the sidewalk. Think of it as an art crawl with food, drinks, and live music.
What is There to See and Do?
Many restaurants and shops will have special games and activities as well as discounts and specials. For the event, the streets are closed down and there is a Sip and Shop ABC permit under effect so attendees can enjoy adult beverages as they walk along the streets and view the art. There are over twelve participating vendors and over twenty participating local artists and artist groups such as the Prince William Photography Club and the Manassas Art Guild. Several vendors also host live music from local bands and musicians.
First Fridays are held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. the first Friday every month except for January. The event takes place throughout several blocks of historic downtown Manassas, with the majority of the vendors centering around the intersection of Center Street and Battle Street. You can follow the balloons to each participating location, and maps are also available on the day of the event.
Different months may have special ticketed events as well, such as “December’s Dessert Taster,” so check the Visit Manassas website or text FirstFriday to 888-777, to keep up-to-date on the latest event news.
