From offering healthy meals to providing medical care, nonprofits in Manassas work to help people in need. If you would like to support one or more of their causes, here are a few organizations that you can help from your home at our Manassas apartments:
Haymarket Regional Food Bank
Beginning in a small closet in 2004, the Haymarket Regional Food Bank has grown to help thousands of individuals every year. It works to eliminate hunger, and “envisions a community where everyone has sufficient and nutritious meals.” To help, shop for your favorite products at AmazonSmile. The AmazonSmile Foundation will donate .05% of the price of eligible purchases to the food bank.
Project-Mend-A-House helps seniors, veterans, and the disabled who can’t afford critical home repairs. The volunteers range from electricians to plumbers, and their work allows clients to live safely and independently. The repairs are provided at no cost. Donations help pay for hot water heaters, the installation of wheelchair ramps, and much more. Consider making an online donation or shop through AmazonSmile.
Headquartered here in Manassas, Medical Missionaries features a group of volunteer doctors, nurses, and dentists who dedicate their lives to helping the poor. They work in both United States and abroad. The volunteers also educate other medical professionals as they try to eradicate malnutrition and provide access to drinkable water. Medical Missionaries accepts online donations. The money helps pay for things such as vaccinations, malaria tests, and masks.
