Volunteer at a Nearby Animal Shelter

Do you enjoy spending time with animals? If so, consider becoming a volunteer at a local shelter this summer. You’ll help cats and dogs find forever homes! You can also consider making a donation or providing supplies. The best nonprofit organizations near The Elms at Signal Hill Station include:

Prince William SPCA

About seventeen minutes from our Manassas apartments, the Prince William SPCA strives to improve the lives of companion animals in our community. It works to end euthanasia of adoptable animals and provides cruelty prevention through outreach programs.

The shelter is 100 percent volunteer-run. It offers a variety of opportunities, whether you want to volunteer a few hours a week or a few hours a month. Duties include pet photographer’s assistants, van drivers, and pet food drive collectors.

Better known as HART, the Homeless Animals Rescue Team opened in 1990 to rehome abused and unwanted cats and dogs. It welcomes all breeds and ages and provides shelter for its animals until they find permanent homes.

The volunteers work at Dog Adoption Days. They answer questions and hold the dogs on leashes throughout the event.

 Homeward Trails

Believe it or not, Homeward Trails began by accident. When Sue Bell and her husband vacationed in West Virginia, they learned about an animal shelter that had been devastated by a flood. They adopted three dogs and returned home to find them loving families. Today, the couple has saved over 24,000 animals. The shelter seeks to reduce the rate of euthanasia of adoptable pets and supports spaying and neutering practices.

The shelter’s volunteers play an important role in running daily operations. They fulfill an array of duties, including working as adoption counselors. A weekend job, it includes matching adopters with their new furry friend and approving applications. Homeward is 23 minutes from our community.

Along with these nonprofit organizations, our Manassas apartments are also near top restaurants and premier attractions. To call our community home, please contact us. We’d love to show you firsthand all we have to offer.
